FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas is ranked No. 1 in the country by Collegiate Baseball for the first time - and will host a rare 1 vs. 2 matchup against Arizona State this week.
The Razorbacks (22-6) begin a 2-game series with the second-ranked Sun Devils (23-5) on Tuesday night.
"It is an honor to be ranked among the top 15 in the nation," Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn said. "There are a lot of polls out there and to be No. 1 in any of them is something special."
Arkansas was No. 1 Monday in the Collegiate Baseball poll of coaches, sports writers and sports information directors. The Razorbacks were ranked No. 12 by Baseball America - Arizona State was No. 1 in that ranking.
Arkansas beat South Carolina 7-4 Sunday to take 2 of 3 in that series. Arizona State has won four straight, including a 3-game sweep of Washington.
