JONESBORO, Ark - The Arkansas State baseball program announced Saturday that dates have been set and registration is open for the first-ever Tommy Raffo ASU Summer Baseball Camps. Three camps are scheduled in June at Tomlinson Stadium on the ASU campus.
Arkansas State Head Coach Tommy Raffo, along with assistants Chris Cook, Justin Meccage and assistant/camp director Anthony Everman will provide instruction at the camps. Current and former Red Wolf players will assist in the camp instruction as well.
The camps will offer specialized training designed to improve the campers' hitting, defensive play and baseball techniques through a variety of drills and game-type settings.
"We want to encourage all young players to come and learn the skills to make them a better ballplayer," said Raffo. "We will have a fun atmosphere with a teaching environment, and it is a great way to start the summer. We can't wait to teach our future Red Wolves the game of baseball."
The camps will get underway June 8-11 with a youth camp for players ages 6-11. A camp for players ages 12-14 will be held June 15-18, and the camp schedule will wrap up June 22-25 with a second camp for players ages 6-11. All three camps will run from 8:00 a.m. until noon.
"We are excited to have to the opportunity to work with young men from the Jonesboro area in three camp sessions this summer," said Everman. "Campers will experience a variety of drills and instruction that will allow them to develop fundamental skills in a fun environment."
