TROY, Ala. (AP) - Kenneth Roberts and Coty Woods combined on a six-hitter to pitch Middle Tennessee to a 3-1 victory over Louisiana-Monroe Sunday in the Sun Belt Conference championship game.
The top-seeded Blue Raiders (43-16) secured an automatic NCAA regional bid with the win. ULM (32-27) had won three straight after losing the tournament opener to Western Kentucky.
Roberts struck out five and allowed four hits in six innings while Woods gave up two hits and struck out six over the final three.
Then Laird opened the bottom half with a single. White ended any hopes for a comeback with two strikeouts and a flyout.
Middle Tennessee scored all three runs in the third on two walks and RBI singles from Nathan Hines, Bryce Brentz and Zach Dean.
ULM's only run came in the sixth when Perry Smith opened with a double and scored on Jon Prevost's single.
