Peterson transferring to Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas has confirmed guard Jeff Peterson is transferring to the Razorbacks from Iowa.

Peterson will sit out a year before being eligible for the 2010-11 season. He started 25 games for the Hawkeyes as a sophomore in 2008-09 but missed the final seven games of the season with a hamstring injury.

"Jeff Peterson is a very good addition to the Razorback program and we're excited to have him," Arkansas coach John Pelphrey said. "He obviously has to sit out next year, but he started in the Big Ten this year and had a good season. In two years, we'll be adding a guard who played in more than 50 games at Iowa and averaged more than 10 points as a sophomore."

Peterson averaged 10.6 points per game in 2008-09.
