ASU track team headed to Louisville

JONESBORO, Ar ( KAIT) - The NCAA Mideast regional outdoor track and field meet gets underway on today in Louisville. Eight ASU athletes will be in competition, four on the men's side and four on the women's side. Each hoping to do well enough to advance to the finals.

One of the men to watch is ASU sophmore Carlos Mattis. The 6'8 native of Jamaica will compete in the triple jump. At the SBC conference meet Mathis jumped 50 feet, six and three quarters inches finishing second. He is ranked 13th among 30 qualifiers for this weekends competition.

Along with Mattis, Jeremy Willis is headed to Louisville. Willis will compete in the pole vault. Willis has been to a regional before for pole vaulting.

ASU will bring two women with them. The first Stephanie Foreman will compete in the pole vaulting events. It will be the first ever regional college meet for Foreman, who is just a freshman at ASU.

Catherine Frappier is heading to Louisville with Foreman. She says that she is excited to be headed to the regionals and to have some one from her team going with her.
