Royals manager Hillman suspended for 1 game

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Kansas City Royals manager Trey Hillman has been suspended for one game following an argument with home plate umpire Paul Emmel.

Hillman was ejected by Emmel during Monday's game against Detroit after arguing a called third strike on Willie Bloomquist.

The Royals say the suspension is for one game, and bench coach John Gibbons would manage the team Wednesday against Detroit.

The ejection was the fourth of Hillman's career and first this season.
