Crash witness saw PT Cruiser cross median

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Bonnie Johnson was driving south on highway 63 on her way home from work in Jonesboro to Marked Tree, when a red PT Cruiser began to veer into her lane.

"I looked up and there he was," said Johnson. "He was about to hit me and I honked my horn, then he cut right in front of me and across the median.  He was flinging mud everywhere then came up going south in the norhtbound lanes."

Johnson said it didn't look like the driver was slumped over or incapicitated in any way. She claims he was driving at least 70 mph and wasn't driving erratically.

"To me myself, it looked like he was trying to kill himself," said Johnson.  "That's when I called 911 and told them what was happening. While I was talking to the operator I saw the car crash head on into the bus.  The bus flipped over the cruiser and pieces of both cars went everywhere. It was horrible. I told them to send ambulances because there was a bunch of fatalities."

Johnson had her two boys in the car with her, one is 11 and the other is 2.

"The little one was asleep but my older boy saw everything," said Johnson. "I'm still a little freaked out by the whole thing. I couldn't sleep last night. I just keep seeing the crash over and over. It was awful. It was the most awful thing I've ever seen."
