JONESBORO, Ark. (6-2-2009) - Numerous members of the Arkansas State Athletic Department will be making the rounds at local golf courses beginning today when the summer golf tour gets underway in Osceola with the first of four Scarlet Scrambles.
Today's tournament at Osceola will begin with a 1:00 p.m. shotgun start at Riverlawn Country Club.
The second Scarlet Scramble of the summer will be held Friday, June 5 at Newport Country Club. The tournament is scheduled to get underway at 1:00 p.m. and will be followed by dinner and a short program. Paragould will be the site of the third Scarlet Scramble, with a noon lunch followed by golf at the Paragould Country Club. The tournament will be held Friday, June 19. For more information or to enter the tournament, contact John Roleson at Paragould Country Club at 870-239-2328.
The fourth Scarlet Scramble is scheduled for Monday, July 13 at Blytheville Country Club. Lunch and registration is scheduled for 11:30 a.m., with tee time scheduled for 1:00 p.m. For more information or to register, contact the Blytheville Country Club Pro Shop at 870-763-7821.
The winners of each Scarlet Scramble will receive an automatic entry into the championship flight of the Oct. 23 ASU Open at Sage Meadows Country Club in Jonesboro.
Also on the summer golf schedule are the June 20 Red Wolves Women's Basketball Scramble at Three Rivers Country Club in Marked Tree, the ASU Sports Medicine 4-Person Scramble set for July 17 at Sage Meadows Country Club, and the 25th Annual A-State Golf Classic, scheduled for Aug. 1-2 at Hot Springs Country Club.
