Anxiety issues hit both Cardinals, Reds

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Social anxiety is the term the St. Louis Cardinals used when placing shortstop Khalil Greene on the 15-day disabled list.

At least he's at the ballpark for a series against the Reds. Cincinnati first baseman Joey Votto isn't with the team, also stopped in his tracks by stress-related issues linked to struggles with an inner-ear infection.

Votto is getting some private time to sort out the woes that somehow his .357 average has been unable to soothe.

Manager Dusty Baker believes it's the price that some must pay for reaching an elevated stage, set for life in their 20s while peers minus the gift of exceptional hand-eye coordination or rocket-fueled limbs slowly climb the ladder.
