LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - New Wyoming coach Dave Christensen will have to wait a few years to face his old program at Missouri.
Wyoming announced Thursday that it's pushing back its 2-game series with Missouri by six years.
The teams had agreed to meetings in 2011 and 2012. The new agreement postpones those games until 2017 and 2018.
Athletics Director Tom Burman says Wyoming sought to delay the Missouri games after the Cowboys agreed to play Nebraska in 2011, 2013 and 2016.
Wyoming also has scheduled games against Texas in 2009, 2010 and 2012.
Burman says the change is meant to give Christensen and the Cowboys "an opportunity to build a program that will compete for conference championships and postseason play."
Wyoming hired Christensen in December from Missouri, where he was offensive coordinator.
