Hot Springs keeps high school hoops championships

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - Hot Springs will remain the site for Arkansas' high school basketball championships through 2012.

The Arkansas Activities Association agreed in 2006 to hold hoops championships in Hot Springs from 2007 through 2009. The organization voted Tuesday to extend the contract for another three years.

Average yearly attendance for the championships at the Summit Arena has been 58,389. Attendance this year was 64,194.

Hot Springs is also home to the Sun Belt Conference basketball tournament through 2011.
