COPY-ASU works to limit printing costs

Associated Press - June 10, 2009 12:04 PM ET

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas State is changing over its media guides to electronic format.

The school will save about $35,000 in printing costs in the coming school year by using compact disks and flash drives for its media guides. A small number will still be printed, but those will be used for recruiting. The decision affects all 16 of ASU's sports.

Athletic director Dean Lee says much larger schools are making similar changes, such as Ohio State and Michigan.

ASU's athletic budget is nearly flat from last year at $10.9 million. Lee says ASU is better off than most Sun Belt Conference schools. Lee says no personnel or scholarship cuts are planned.
