MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Brian Gay is in the lead and Phil Mickelson is eight shots back at the St. Jude Classic after completion of a second round halted by thunderstorms.
Gay's 4-under 66 on Friday gave him the clubhouse lead at 10-under 130. Robert Allenby finished up a 64 on Saturday morning to get within a stroke.
Mickelson, playing for the first time since announcing his wife has breast cancer, played out the final three holes of his second round for a 70. He started with a birdie, but then he went bogey and double bogey on No. 18 for a second straight round.
Bryce Molder (63) and Vaughn Taylor (65) were at 132.
John Daly made the cut at even par and will play the weekend in his first PGA Tour event since returning from a six-month suspension.
