Alley Drag Race Sends One Jonesboro Man to Hospital

JONESBORO, Ark. -- A drag racing wreck on Tuesday night sent on Jonesboro man to an area hospital.

Twenty-year-old Benjamin Colvin and 19-year-old Scotty Shannon were drag racing, according to the Jonesboro Police Department, in the alley behind the Lowe's store in east Jonesboro at approximately 8 p.m.

Colvin, driving a white Chevrolet Blazer, couldn't make the turn at the end of the alley and hit a guard rail at a high rate of speed. Investigators do not believe that Colvin attempted to use his brakes. They tell KAIT that there were no skid marks at the scene of the accident.

Colvin was transported to St. Bernards Regional Medical Center. Police say that he was concsious. Shannon was not hurt. Both men were issued citations for careless driving.
