INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - NASCAR drivers think Goodyear has a solution to the tire troubles at Indianapolis.
Former Cup points champion Kurt Busch and Kasey Kahne both said the tires tested this week at Indianapolis were a vast improvement over the ones used during last year's problem-plagued race.
Kahne has participated in all six tire tests since last year's race, which turned into a series of 10 to 12-lap sprints because of the continual competition cautions. Two weeks ago, Kahne said, Goodyear gave the drivers a tire that proved to be stickier and able to run more laps.
But until two weeks ago, Kahne didn't see a big difference between last year's tires and the new ones. Kahne said he is now confident the tires will produce a more enjoyable race.
