Cardinals could activate Greene soon

ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis Cardinals infielder Khalil Greene, on the 15-day disabled list while dealing with social anxiety problems, worked out with the team Wednesday and could be activated soon.

Greene has been playing third base during a rehab stint at AAA Memphis and likely would return to the lineup at that position. He played third base in college but hasn't in the major leagues.

Manager Tony La Russa said Greene likely would spend more time at third base but could start at his usual spot of shortstop if Joe Thurston is in the lineup. Thurston has played well as 1 of the fill-ins for injured third baseman Troy Glaus.
