NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Four winners of a drawing to participate in Tennessee's first managed elk hunt will be announced at Thursday's meeting of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission.
The agency said in a statement that almost 13,000 people entered the contest for the October hunt in the North Cumberland Wildlife Management Area.
A fifth permit will go to the highest bidder at a July charity auction for the nonprofit Tennessee Wildlife Resources Foundation. The money from that fundraiser will go toward restoring the elk population in the state.
