Crisp out for season with shoulder injury

HOUSTON (AP) - Royals center fielder Coco Crisp will have season-ending surgery on his right shoulder on Wednesday.

Crisp, who has been on the disabled list since June 14, will have surgery to repair a torn labrum. The operation will be performed by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala.

Crisp was traded from the Boston Red Sox in November and started 49 games in center before his injury. He has been replaced recently in center field by Mitch Maier.

Crisp was batting .228 with 14 RBIs and 13 stolen bases before the injury.
