Police investigate murder in Carter County

CARTER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -- A man is dead and his girlfriend is behind bars accused of the crime.

Sheriff Tommy Adams tells us the woman now faces armed criminal action and murder charges.

No names have been released pending notification of family but we're told the girlfriend allegedly shot her boyfriend to death between 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Afterward, the Sheriff says she went to a neighbor's house and told her what happened.

The neighbor found the boyfriend dead and called police.

    According to Sgt. Jamie White with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office, Gary Fears was arrested Friday in connection with a shooting at a home on Highway 91.
