Baldknobbers Show Celebrates 50 years

50 years ago, the Branson entertainment revolution began with four brothers entertaining visitors to the sleepy little Ozarks town on the lake.

It was 1959 when four Mabe brothers started it all, calling themselves The Baldknobbers, after the legendary vigilante group.

Now four generations later, The Baldknobberrs Jamboree is still in the Mabe family.

Branson's first show still features singers, musicians, comedians and entertainers performing country music and they're own distinct brand of hillbilly humor.

"During the very beginning they worried about 50 days down the road," said bank leader Brent Mabe. "They had a policy that if they didn't have 12 people they wouldn't perform. I don't think they foresaw 50 years, but it's pretty neat to be in this position."

That position puts The Baldknobbers Jamboree as the longest running show in branson, and the show that started it all helped turn branson into the live entertainment capital of the world.
