Arkansas-Georgia football game to be televised

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas' conference opener against Georgia will be aired by either ESPN or ESPN2 this fall.

The Razorbacks and Bulldogs are to face off September 19th in Fayetteville.

ESPN will decide which network to air the game on a week ahead of time.

This year's game between Arkansas and Georgia will be the first between the two schools at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium since 2004.

Handful of Southeastern Conference underclassmen withdrawn names from NBA Draft

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Six all-Southeastern Conference players have withdrawn their names from the NBA draft and intend to return to school.

Among those are Arkansas' Michael Washington, Kentucky's Patrick Patterson, South Carolina's Devan Downey, Mississippi State's Jarvis Varnado, Tennessee's Tyler Smith and LSU's Tasmin Mitchell.

Washington averaged a team-high 15.5 points and 9.8 rebounds last season for the Razorbacks.

Twisters' Fairooz named Arena Football 2 player of week

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas Twisters' Aaron Fairooz has been named the Arena Football 2 player of the week.

Fairooz, who once played for the University of Central Arkansas, made 14 catches for 169 yards and five touchdowns in his debut last weekend.

Fairooz helped the Twisters beat Amarillo 63-62 at Alltel Arena in North Little Rock.

S. Arkansas pitcher gets Gulf South Conference award

MAGNOLIA, Ark. (AP) - Southern Arkansas pitcher James Schroeder has been picked for the Gulf South Conference's Top 10 awards, which are based on athletic, academic and extracurricular achievement.

Schroeder hit .344 this season for the Muleriders. He had 14 doubles, 88 RBI and 19 home runs. On the mound, Schroeder recorded an 8-2 record with an ERA of 3.38 and 72 strikeouts.
