FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Matt Summers has been hired as Arkansas' head football trainer.
Summers was a senior athletic trainer at Kentucky in 2008-09. He had previously been an assistant trainer for the San Diego Chargers.
Summers also worked at Louisville from 2003-06 under coach Bobby Petrino, who is now the coach at Arkansas.
"The health, safety and well being of our student-athletes is the primary responsibility of our department and our athletic trainers are essential to that commitment," Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long said. "Matt Summers' experience in the NFL and intercollegiate athletics has prepared him for this important position with our football program."
