Rodeo roughies tight-knit group

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - A group of 15 young competitors can often be found in the rodeo arena at the Boone County Fairgrounds.

That's where the nastiest bucking broncs and bulls are kept.

These competitors sitting on the chutes are called the "roughies."

They're a close-knit group of high school students competing in the same rodeos throughout the year, despite living far apart.
