Tiger athletics announces record donations

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - The University of Memphis announced that donations to Tiger Athletics have reached $7 million, surpassing last year's record amount of $6 million.

The school said Monday in a statement that this is the fourth consecutive year that more than $5 million has been collected and the 11th straight year of an increase in donations to the department.

The Tiger Scholarship Fund is the athletic department organization charged with raising scholarship dollars for Memphis student-athletes.

Money raised by the fund is used to offset the cost of scholarships for the more than 350 Tiger student-athletes.
