Arkansas mum on Welsh's status

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas guard Stefan Welsh is still on the Razorbacks' roster after reportedly being suspended from the team.

Television station KHOG in northwest Arkansas reported on its Web site Thursday that Welsh has been suspended indefinitely by coach John Pelphrey. The station, which did not identify its sources, said it had not confirmed the reason for the suspension.

An Arkansas athletic department spokesman would not confirm the suspension, saying only that Welsh is still a member of the team.

Welsh would be 1 of 2 seniors on the Razorbacks in 2009-2010. He started 24 games last season and averaged 11.5 points.

Arkansas recently announced the departure of Jason Henry, who played in 23 games last season as a freshman.
