COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - A newly formed semiprofessional football team in Columbia is giving a second chance to some Missouri athletes.
The Columbia Trojans have attracted former Kansas City Chiefs player J.D. Franklin, and Jason Simpson, a former team captain at Missouri.
About 30 other athletes, ranging from college wrestlers to basketball players, are playing for the Trojans in the inaugural season in the North American Football League.
The Trojans play in the same conference as the Kansas City Panthers and Junction City, Kan., Spartans.
Former Tigers basketball star Jason Sutherland is also involved with the team.
