Tyson Gay to run 200 meters at London Grand Prix

LONDON (AP) - Triple world champion Tyson Gay will run the 200 meters at the London Grand Prix later this month as part of his preparations for the world championships in Berlin.

The American sprinter and former Razorback, who won 100, 200 and 400 relay at the worlds in Osaka two years ago, has raced once this season over 200, in New York in May, when he clocked 19.58 seconds.

The July 24-25 London meet is just three weeks before the worlds Aug. 15-23.

Gay said Monday that he saw the London race as a final test for the world championships. His only 200-meter time this season was the third fastest behind Olympic champion Usain Bolt and American Michael Johnson.
