ST. LOUIS (AP) - The 2009-2010 season for the St. Louis Blues will begin away from home - far away from home.
The Blues announced Wednesday that the season opens Oct. 2 and Oct. 3 with games against the Detroit Red Wings in Stockholm, Sweden.
The Blues then return to St. Louis for the home opener on Oct. 8 against Atlanta.
The home schedule includes five Friday games, 13 Saturday games and three Sunday games.
The season will include a 6-game homestand Nov. 10 through Nov. 23, and a 16-day break from Feb. 14 to March 1 for the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. After the Olympics, the Blues play 8 of the next nine games on the road.
The preseason includes three home games followed by three road games. The preseason opener is Sept. 15 against Minnesota.
