RB Ross transfers from Memphis to South Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Former Memphis running back Brandon Ross is transferring to the University of South Alabama.

South Alabama coach Joey Jones said Wednesday that Ross will enroll in school for the fall semester.

He played in the Tigers' final eight games last season and gained 296 yards, taking the field after injuries took a toll on the backfield. Ross will have three years of eligibility remaining.

He gained a career-best 111 yards in a win at Southern Methodist.

Ross's cousin Richard will be a redshirt freshman running back in the Jaguars' first season of football.
