Jonesboro, AR (KAIT) - "With the construction of Nordex underway in Jonesboro's Technology Park, the winds of change are blowing, and bringing with it jobs.

"It's also good though when you get the announcement and you actually see earth being moved and construction starting to happen," said Mark Young.

Mark Young is the President and CEO of the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce.  Young said the excitement is growing, especially with the promise of new jobs on the horizon.

"What will be great is the construction jobs that come, but also ultimately the 700 jobs Nordex is going to create.   We're really excited about it," said Young.

New details about the arrival of Nordex to Jonesboro are being finalized with each day that passes.  At Tuesday night's city council meeting, council members passed a resolution to issue bonds to help pay for the facility.

"That will allow Nordex to do an IDR--industrial revenue bond up to 100 million dollars.   Now that that's clear they can now go back and start getting their financing through the bond issue," said Jonesboro Mayor, Harold Perrin.

Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin says Nordex officials bought their permit on Tuesday.  With that permit and construction underway, both Perrin and Young say they have high hopes for Nordex and the opportunities the company will bring to the city of Jonesboro, and it's people.

For more on jobs at Nordex, call the temporary office for Nordex at the Center for Economic Development on Krueger Drive in Jonesboro.  That number is 972-3850.
