JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) - Former Arkansas tennis standout Blake Strode has won the title in the ITF tour's USA F18 Futures tournament by beating former Tulsa star Arnau Brugues. Yesterday's match in Joplin, Missouri, was Strode's third appearance in the finals of an ITF tourney since he turned pro this spring.

(AP) - The Tulsa Drillers will try to take 3 of 4 games from the Arkansas Travelers tonight in Texas League play. The Drillers beat the Travelers 6-1 yesterday in Arkansas.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Three members of the Arkansas women's swimming and diving team are competing at the world championships in Rome as members of national teams outside the U.S. Yi-Ting Siow is swimming for Malaysia. Erica Totten will compete for the Republic of the Philippines, and Lynette Ng will swim for Singapore.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - The Texas Rangers start a home series against Detroit tonight after winning 2 of 3 against Kansas City. Dustin Nippert allowed one hit in a stellar job of relief pitching as the Rangers beat the Royals 7-2 yesterday.
