Missouri-Kentucky ferry will be improved

DORENA, Mo. (AP) - A Mississippi River ferry connecting southeast Missouri and western Kentucky will receive about $1 million in federal funds for upgrades.

The Southeast Missourian reported Wednesday that the money will be used to buy more powerful engines and a larger barge for the ferry.

That should make it easier to shuttle cars and trucks across the river between Dorena, Mo., and Hickman, Ky.
