HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - The first day of the 2009 Arkansas State University Golf Classic was rained out.
A record-breaking 71 teams are participating in the ASU Golf Classic, but they were unable to play the tournament's opening round due to heavy rainfall.
Participants still enjoyed a reception, silent auction and dinner tonight as part of the 2-day event being held at the Hot Springs Country Club.
The tournament champions will now be decided by the outcome of today's round. Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe is serving as the tournament’s Honorary Chairman, while Senator Paul Bookout of Jonesboro is serving as the Honorary Co-Chairman.
This year’s tournament is being presented by Liberty Bank and hosted by the ASU Athletics Department.
