Eating Disorder Awareness

August 3, 2009 --

After more than 17 years of suffering from anorexia and bulimia, a Region 8 woman is reaching out with her story.

Shanda Hardin, says she struggled with her self-image and years of constant diets.

She says society paints a picture that thin is beautiful... But she says it's something impossible for most women to achieve.

With her story, along with the information she has learned about how to deal with eating disorders, Hardin hopes to help others suffering from this illness.

She, along with a friend, has started a support group that meets every first and third Monday of the month at the Salem First Baptist Church at 7 pm.

If you or someone you know is suffering from an eating disorder, there is help.
