Successful permit bidder's wife to hunt elk

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A Tennessee elk hunt permit that Andy Miller bought on eBay for $17,700 is going to his wife.

The gift makes Tami Miller of Franklin the only woman on the hunt Oct. 19-23 at the North Cumberland Wildlife Management Area.

Andy Miller told The Tennessean his wife is an experienced hunter, but has never bagged an elk. Tami Miller said she is confident about her skills.

Miller said he appreciates his wife caring for their four sons while he goes hunting and this hunt needed a female. He and the boys will tag along.

The event will be the first permitted hunt for elk in Tennessee in more than 150 years.

The other four hunters' names were chosen in a drawing by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.
