ASU football completes 11th practice

JONESBORO (8/15/09) - The Arkansas State football team concluded its ninth consecutive day of practices Saturday evening, holding the 11th workout of its fall camp inside ASU Stadium in shorts and shoulder pads.

"We continue to get better," said ASU Head Coach Steve Roberts.  "We continue to show signs of being able to move the football offensively and to get some stops defensively.   Our kids still have a whole lot of will to learn and that is evident in the way they are flying around and trying to concentrate."

"We are at the point in camp where that is extremely tough," continued Roberts. "We have had 11 practices and they are exhausted mentally, physically and emotionally.  The new has worn off and they have pushed through that to some degree, but we have still got to find a way to get mentally and physically tougher through the rest of fall camp."

While the Red Wolves will hold meetings Sunday, they won't practice again until Monday at 9:00 a.m. and 5:45 p.m.

The Arkansas State Athletics Department also announced Saturday that it is teaming up with ASU-TV to let Red Wolves fans choose and then relive some of the biggest moments in recent A-State football history.

Five games from the last five seasons have been selected and placed in a poll question for fans to select as their favorite A-State football moment over that period. Each of those five games will be replayed on ASU-TV during the week leading up to the 2009 season opener against Mississippi Valley State on Sept. 5 in Jonesboro.

Fans are encouraged to log onto ASU's official athletics website,, to vote for their favorite game. Then, beginning Aug. 31 and continuing at 7:00 p.m. each night that week, the games will be replayed on ASU-TV Channel 18 in ascending order of the votes they receive in the poll.
