JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The hearing to determine if two of the West Memphis 3 will get a retrial will be delayed.
According to the court clerk, a continuance was granted Monday for Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley. Both are seeking a new trial under the premise that they had inadequate counsel.
Both were convicted along with Damien Echols, who is currently on death row, in the 1993 deaths of three West Memphis boys, Steven Branch, Christopher Byers and Michael Moore.
The hearing will continue October 1. Prosecutors are scheduled to present their case then that a retrial is not needed.
Last week, the defense brought in pathologists who said the injuries to the deceased children were caused by animals.
