Teu signs with ASU tennis

JONESBORO, Ark. (8/17/09) - Arkansas State women's tennis head coach Marcia Williams announced Monday that Ioana Teu will join the Red Wolves lineup for the 2009-2010 season.

"We are excited about Ioana joining our team," said Williams.  "Ioana has a big game.  She is not just a retriever.  She hits the ball hard, has good technique and moves well. She will be able to help us right away with doubles."

Teu comes to ASU from South Auckland, New Zealand where she was ranked tenth in girls' 18 singles and sixth in doubles in 2008.  She won the 2008 National Secondary Schools girls' team event in the No. 1 spot and the Auckland Secondary Schools senior girls' singles title.

Teu also competed in netball, volleyball and hockey at Mount Albert Grammar School.  She is the daughter of Tevito and Tala Teu and plans on majoring in Accounting at Arkansas State.  She also enjoys dancing, music and traveling.
