JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The typical back-to-school blues are something most have experienced at some point in their lives, but at the Jonesboro Math and Science Magnet School, they're welcoming kids with a dose of fun designed to make the day brighter.
It was balloons and pencils and crazy constumes Wednesday morning at the former Philadelphia School. Teachers and volunteers passed out balloons and pencils to students as they walked in for the first day back in the 2009-2010 school year.
Bonnie Robb organized the event and even donned a clown suit to make the day a bit more fun. She tells Region 8 News that celebrations often come on the last day of school but by doing it on the first day, it helps kids beat back-to-school blues.
An assembly is planned for Friday that Ms. Robb says will continue the first-week celebration.
