LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Legislation to carry out the governor and economic developers' ideas to attract more and better-paying jobs to Arkansas was filed today.
The 28-page bill is sponsored by Forrest City Democrat Danny Ferguson and Senators Steve Bryles and Jerry Bookout.
Ferguson has said it's important that the Legislature act quickly to improve its incentive package, both so Toyota knows it's serious and for other potential clients down the road.
Toyota is considering building a North American plant, and eastern Arkansas is reportedly one of four sites it's looking at for a $750 million plant.
State Economic Development Director Jim Pickens said most legislators are supportive of the package.
