JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Tuesday afternoon accident at Dan Avenue and Gee Street in Jonesboro sends a 16-year-old to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis.

According to Jonesboro Police, a juvenile pulled out from Gee Street onto Dan Avenue into the oncoming path of a City Water & Light dump truck. Witnesses say the truck hit the car on the driver side, causing the car to burst into flames. The driver had to be cut out of the vehicle.

The 16-year-old was airlifted to The Med, according to police. The boy remains in critical condition on Wednesday at last report.

The CWL truck driver was not taken to the hospital. Police said he was not seriously injured.

Jonesboro police say that this intersection is more prone to dangerous accidents, due to the way the lanes curve around it.
