JONESBORO -- Miss Craighead County Rice 2009, Hannah Rae Hodges, reveals her recipe promoting rice, as part of Rice Month in Arkansas.

Hannah's Nuts About Rice Bars

Ingredients:

2 Cups Rice Krispies

1 Box Yellow Cake Mix

1 1/2 Sticks of Butter

1 Egg

2 Cups Miniature Marshmallows

1 (10 oz) Pkg. of Peanut Butter Cups

3/4 Cup of White Corn Syrup

2 Cups Roasted Peanuts, without skins

Directions:  Mix together the cake mix, one stick of butter and the egg; press into a 9" x 13" pan and bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees.  Remove from oven and sprinkle with the miniature marshmallows.  Return to oven and bake just until the marshmallows are melted, but not brown.  Remove from oven and set aside.  In a sauce pan, melt the remaining 1/2 stick of butter with the peanut butter chips* and the white corn syrup.  Remove from heat and add the rice krispies and peanuts; spread over the marshmallows in pan.  Let cool before cutting.
