Cardinals extend deals with Franklin, Miller

 ST. LOUIS (AP) - The St. Louis Cardinals have extended the contracts of 2 key relievers - closer Ryan Franklin and lefthanded specialist Trever Miller.

Terms were not disclosed. Franklin's contract runs through 2011; the extension for Miller is for 2010 with a vesting option for 2011.

At 36, Franklin leads the National League with 35 saves in 37 chances. He is 2-1 with a 1.05 ERA and was selected to his first All-Star team in July.

Miller is 4-0 with a 1.77 ERA. Lefthanded hitters are 8 for 80 (.100) against him.
