Colorado man in custody after 3 hr. manhunt in Region 8

MONETTE, AR (KAIT) - A 3 hour manhunt around Highway 18 and Highway 139, leads to one man in custody facing multiple charges.

According to the Craighead County Sheriff's Department Damien Dempsey was pulled over by police on a routine traffic stop.

Police say that's when Dempsey ran from police and hid out in the corn and bean fields that surround the area. Bloodhounds were also used to track down the suspect.

The Magical Minds Daycare had to be put on lockdown while police searched the area.

Dempsey now faces assault of a police officer, fleeing the scene, resisting arrest, and public intoxication.

Police say 2 other people were in the car, but surrendered immediately. Currently no charges are being filed against the 2 men.

    According to Jackson County Sheriff's Captain Ricky Morales, 40-year-old Rickey D. Crawford Jr., of Tuckerman, was arrested in relation to the death of 33-year-old Amanda Michelle Crawford.
