Missouri research center hosts tomato fest

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Tomato lovers can sample more than 50 varieties of the squishy fruit at a University of Missouri research farm.

The Bradford Research and Extension Center in Columbia holds its annual tomato festival Thursday starting at 4 p.m. Guests can also sample 30 different types of peppers.

University researchers and extension specialists will give talks on various aspects of tomato and pepper production and cultivation. Visitors can also rate the crops. And local vendors will offer salsa samples at the free event.
