ROGERS, Ark. (AP) - A lawyer's request to schedule depositions around a college football game and his admission that taking time to settle cases lets him "make more money" has drawn a sharp rebuke from the Rogers city attorney.
The city of Rogers is suing two car dealers and Ford Motor Co. alleging poor repairs to an ambulance, whose engine eventually burned up. Bob Maloney Ford-Mercury lawyer Michael Alexander of Little Rock wrote to City Attorney Ben Lipscomb last week saying he didn't care if the case was settled because "I make more money defending the case."
Lipscomb wrote back saying lawyers like Alexander were the reason "most people ... despise lawyers." The city is seeking $15,000 in damages from Maloney, Hendren Ford and Ford Motor Co. Ford.
