JONESBORO, Ark. (9/3/09) - Arkansas State's football season opener against Mississippi Valley State has been designated as the "Paint the Stadium Red" game, and all fans are encouraged to wear red in support of the Red Wolves when they kick off the season against the Delta Devils. The game will also be designated as "Scout Day," with all scouts in uniform receiving free admission.
Fans tailgating prior to A-State's home games can now reserve spaces along the newly-created Red Wolf Run. Tailgating along Johnson Ave. has seen a huge increase in popularity in recent years, prompting the ASU Red Wolf Club to become more involved by creating Red Wolf Run. During the past three seasons, fans were able to purchase tailgate passes for the grassy area along Johnson Ave., and starting with the 2009 season, that area will become reserved tailgate spaces for members of the Red Wolf Club and will be considered a part of Tailgate City. There will be 34 reserved spaces along Johnson Ave., with room to expand in the future. Each space along Red Wolf Run will measure 50' x 40'.
Tailgate City has a new sponsor for the 2009 season, Dental Solutions. Tailgate City will feature a live band, food and fun prior to the kickoff of Saturday's game.
The ASU Kids' Zone will open three hours prior to kickoff with inflatables, interactive games, face painting, music and more for kids to enjoy. Howl's Pals members can enjoy food and pick up their t-shirts and identification cards at the tent just outside the ASU Kids' Zone at the ASU Practice Field.
"Football season is here and we're excited to kick it off this weekend," said ASU Associate Athletic Director for Marketing and Promotions Gleen Hart. "Saturday will be an awesome day for families to come enjoy some great college football."
Red Zone 4-Packs are still available on a per-game basis. With the purchase of a Red Zone 4-Pack, fans will receive four game tickets, four boxes of popcorn, four hot dogs and four drinks for just $55.
