JONESBORO, AR -When the Red Wolves football team takes the field for its 2009 season opener against Mississippi Valley State on Sept. 5, ASU Stadium will feature a new historical landmark that has been tabbed the "Arkansas State Lettermen's Arch and Walkway" and will feature an attractive arch and personalized brick pavers honoring all ASU lettermen, past, present, future or deceased.
The dedication ceremony will be held prior to kickoff at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The ceremony is open to the public and fans are encouraged to attend. Among those that will address the crowd in attendance are Arkansas State Director of Athletics Dr. Dean Lee and President of the ASU Lettermen's Club Tommy Reese, along with several letterwinners.
"This is something done by the lettermen that will honor all lettermen and bring pride to Arkansas State University," said Reese.
The arch will feature two brick columns serving as the foundation and the words "ARKANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY LETTERMEN" will span across the bend in the arch, which will be located at the north entrance to the ASU Stadium home stands.
Each brick is priced at $100, while membership to the ASU Lettermen's Club is $50. For more information on the ASU Lettermen's Club and the "Arkansas State Lettermen's Walk", visit the Lettermen's Club page located on AStateRedWolves.com or call Reese at 870-972-6400.
