Beatles fans rock out with new video game

By Lakecia Shockley - bio | email

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Since 1964 The Beatles helped define a generation with songs like "Hey Jude", "I Want to Hold Your Hand," and "It's Been a Hard Day's Night." Now, The Beatles are helping to shape the video game world, and you can get in on the action!

Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you The Beatles Rock Band video game. For East Texas Beatles fans, it's a "must" buy.

"So, why are you here today?" I asked one Best Buy customer.

"The Beatles," replied Ronnie Mason, showing me the game in his hand. "That's why I'm here."

"We don't even own Rock Band," said Rita Baloche, a Lindale resident. "So, this is the first Rock Band that we're going to own so yeah, because of The Beatles."

The Beatles Rock Band games sells for X-Box 360, PS-3 and the Wii. And, for a little extra dough, you can get replications of the instruments that The Beatles actually used.

"It's replica of what Paul McCartney actually played and then you also get the drum set that has The Beatle's sign right in the middle of it," said Whitney Blakeman, a media tasking team specialist.

The musical performance video game actually shows you The Beatles performing in different eras. For Lindale resident Rita Baloche, buying Beatles Rock Band was supposed to be a secret until we caught up with her.

"I bought my husband an X-Box on his birthday in June knowing that this was coming out in September and knowing that I wouldn't be able to get it at Christmas if I tried so I'm getting it early so don't tell him!" laughed Baloche. "Don't tell him it's a secret. He's a huge Beatles fan!"

The Beatles Rock Band video game sells for $59. You can get the Rock Band replica set for $249. You can pick it up wherever video games are sold.
