JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - A Missouri agency reports finding high levels of E. coli bacteria this week in a cove at the Lake of the Ozarks.
The Department of Natural Resources says E. coli in a sample taken from Laurie Hollow on the Osage River Arm exceeded standards for safe swimming.
The sample was among 50 taken Tuesday from various spots on the sprawling lake. The department said Thursday the Laurie Hollow sample was the only one with a high level of E. coli.
Laurie Hollow also registered a high bacteria level in July. DNR plans to start inspecting that area to find a possible source.
